FIELD: pipeline transport.

SUBSTANCE: pipe comprises wall provided with spiral groove filled with an optical conducting material, e.g. fiber-optical material. The fiber-optical layer is investigated by means of optical vibration, and the layer interruptions caused by the distortion of the pipe wall are judged by the change of the parameters of vibration. The pipe is repaired by the heat generated by optical vibration that is transmitted by the conducting material, which causes the material of the pipeline wall to be melted at the site of the crack. The methods of manufacturing pipes, control and repairing pipeline wall are presented.
