FIELD: built-up cutting tools, milling cutters for working cams of cam shafts.

SUBSTANCE: indexed cutting tip for milling cutter includes upper and lower square surfaces; four identical lateral surfaces arranged between upper surface and lower surface; two diametrically opposite dents extending to mutually opposite sides in plan view of cutting tip. Each dent has peripheral lateral surface including intermediate lateral surface and two additional lateral surfaces. Intermediate lateral surface is arranged between two additional lateral surfaces and it is smoothly joined with them. Each lateral surface includes main lateral surface joined with adjacent additional lateral surface. Adjacent main lateral surfaces are joined with two diametrically opposite angular edges of cutting tip. Eight identical main cutting edges include four main cutting edges formed by crossing of main lateral surfaces with upper surface and four main cutting edges formed by crossing of main lateral surfaces with lower surface. Eight identical additional cutting edges include four additional cutting edges formed by crossing of additional lateral surfaces with upper surface and four cutting edges formed by crossing of additional lateral surfaces with lower surface. Each additional cutting edge is joined with adjacent main cutting edge. Milling cutter includes body, mainly in the form of round disc and large number of identical cutting tips mounted with possibility of changing them in seats. Body has two opened to opposite sides practically round lateral surfaces mutually joined by peripheral surface for mounting cutting tips; rotation axis passing through lateral surfaces and setting rotation sign of milling cutter. Cutting tips are arranged in pairs in staggered order. Upper or lower supporting surface of each cutting tip is turned to rotation side. First cutting tip of given pair of cutting tips has the mostly remote in radial and axial directions first dent extending in axial direction at least partially outside first lateral surface of body. Second cutting tip of given pair of cutting tips has the mostly remote from center in radial and axial directions second dent extending in axial direction at least partially outside second lateral surface of body.

EFFECT: possibility for working lateral surface of cam of cam shaft and for chamfering edges of said surface.
