FIELD: production processes.
SUBSTANCE: proposed cutting is intended for milling cutters and features two identical opposite face surfaces and two opposite identical main lateral surfaces. It also comprises four spaced apart main cutting edges, each formed on intersection of the main lateral surface with the face surface, and main rear surface abutting on each main cutting edge. Tangents to the rear main surface passing from the main cutting edge, corresponding to the former, have their plane perpendicular to the main lateral surface inclined to the midplane of the cutting plate at an acute angle in every cross section. Every face surface features four angles, two diagonally opposite undersized angles and two diagonally opposite raised angles. Note here that the undersized angles are located closer to the aforesaid midplane as compared to raised angles. Every end face surface features two raised and two undersized angular cutting edges.
EFFECT: higher strength of cutting plate due to its tangential fitting.
