SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesis of novel additive poly-(5-trimethylsilylnorborn-2-ene) that can be used in different fields of industry and, in particular, in processes for separation of gases. Additive polymer no containing double bonds in the main chain, namely poly-(5-trimethylsilylnorborn-2-ene) corresponds to the following formula: , wherein n = 170-2000 (polymerization degree), value of average-weight molecular mass Mw = (2-40) x 104 g/mole and polydispersity index Mw/MN = 1.5-3.0. Proposed polymer is used in a method for membrane separation of gaseous mixtures with the super-high coefficient of gas permeability.
