FIELD: experimental aerodynamics and hydrodynamics, in particular, optical methods for studying structure of gas or liquid flow on the surface of objects, possible use for visualization of gas or liquid flow on the surface of mobile objects.
SUBSTANCE: method includes positioning a layer of viscous liquid, containing foreign, hard particles, non-soluble in viscous liquid on object surface being studied. Optically foreign particles are positioned on the surface of viscous liquid or in its depth. Under effect from external flow particles are displaced together with viscous liquid, not changing their state and leaving no tracks. At required mode of gas or liquid flow, hard particle distribution images are registered on object surface being researched, during lengthy exposition. Time of exposition and viscosity of viscous liquid are selected in such a way that displacement of free surface of viscous liquid layer under effect from external flow during registration of series of successive images at streamline mode being researched equals 0,3-3% of the size of surface being registered. On basis of particle tracks, formed on produced image, flow of gas or liquid on object surface is evaluated.
EFFECT: ensured usability of visualization method for researching mobile objects while decreasing costs and time needed for performing full cycle of research of object.
