FIELD: metallurgy, namely burden for melt metal bath in metallurgical vessel for producing steel.
SUBSTANCE: burden contains material melting on melt metal bath and performing desired metallurgical function. Such material consists practically of granules subjected to treatment for pore formation. Porosity of granulated material is such that at temperature of melt metal some part of granules being in direct contact with bath surface is melted. In the result liquid layer of cover slag is formed on bath of melt metal and heat insulation layer of granules is formed over it. Methods for producing burden and using it are also offered according to invention.
EFFECT: improved metallurgical functions of burden.
