FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: to an intermediate ladle filled with steel to a working level there supplied to a bath level is a heat-insulating mixture, a slag-forming mixture and a magnesium-calcium iron-rich flux with the maximum grain size of not more than 8 mm. The magnesium-calcium iron-rich flux contains the following, wt %: MgO - at least 61, CaO - 5-20, Fe2O3 - 3-12, SiO2 - not more than 8. An amount of the added magnesium-calcium iron-rich flux provides for the concentration of MgO in the slag of 8-22 wt %.
EFFECT: increasing the service life of a lining of an intermediate ladle and reducing the content of non-metallic inclusions in steel.
