FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: shaft furnace includes lined shaft with zones of heating, roasting and cooling. Shaft contains air-cooled beam, gas-distributing core cross-shaped in cross-section and core and peripheral fuel-firing arrangements installed in two tiers. Core is done 2-3 m above the level of the upper tier of fuel-firing arrangements and is made of fire-resistant material on special matrix - SVS-mortar. Diffusion gas burners or burners of full gas flaring may be used as peripheral fuel-firing arrangements. According to one version of the device, core includes installed on air-cooled beam central ceramic support - solid column with slots, in them partition walls are arranged in one wing, each of them being arch-shaped, resting upon furnace lining by the other wing. According to the other version, a cross piece with slots is made in core from two opposite partition walls separated by expansion joint and it's base is arranged on air-cooled beam. In the slots there arranged are two other opposite arch-shaped partition walls supported by shaft lining by one wing and by cross piece by the other wing.

EFFECT: improving strength and lifetime of core, improving roasting quality and reducing possibility of arching.
