FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices suppressing aerodynamic noise of pneumatic equipment and compressed gas or air discharge systems. According to invention, in proposed exhaust muffler containing intake branch pipe and porous material housing rigidly coupled with branch pipe, housing is made in form of truncated cone shell whose larger base is rigidly coupled with end face of intake branch pipe, and smaller base is made in form of solid porous disk, ratio of height H to diameter D intake branch pipe being in range of optimum values H/D=2.0-3.0, ratio of diameter D2 of larger base of truncated cone shell to diameter D1 of smaller base being within the range of optimum values D2/D1=2.0...3.5, and ratio of thickness b of porous material of shell to height H of housing being within the range of optimum values b/H=0.05-0.2.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of noise damping.
