FIELD: machine engineering, possibly grinding by means of diamond-abrasive tool with intermittent cutting surface, namely dead openings and thread ends of screws of screw-down mechanisms of rolling mills.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of imparting rotation, cross and longitudinal feed motions to tool and subjecting blank to rotation. Grinding tool includes body and diamond -abrasive segments arranged in it. Tool body has radial T-shaped grooves on its end and central lengthwise and threaded openings. In grooves of body shoes with inner end inclined by acute angle α are mounted with possibility of radial motion. Said shoes have cross-section shape reciprocal to that of groove. Radial and peripheral plates are arranged on shoes for fastening radial and peripheral segments. Annular tension spring is placed at side of free end of tool body. In central lengthwise opening of body plunger is arranged whose outer surface engages with inner end of shoes. Gradual regulation and restoration of inner diameter of tool is realized due to action upon plunger by means of screw arranged in central threaded opening of tool body.
EFFECT: improved grinding quality, lowered cost price of grinding, enlarged manufacturing possibilities due to possibility for regulating tool diameter at grinding process.
