FIELD: abrasive working, namely of multi-step parts such as races of cutters and foots of drilling bits.

SUBSTANCE: method is realized with use of tool including several discs coaxially mounted in spindle. Discs have stepped diameters corresponding to stepped diameters of blank steps and intermittent working surface. Discs with intermittent working surface have separate abrasive-diamond segments secured to elastic tore-like envelopes. Intermittent discs except disc with minimum diameter are mounted by inclination angle αi relative to plane normal to rotation axis for forming axially shifted cutting layer. Tool is driven to working state by supplying compressed air into elastic tore-like envelopes through central longitudinal openings and cross openings of spindles. Radial feed value is set and controlled during operation without interruption of process due to changing pressure of compressed air supplied to elastic envelopes. In description of invention mathematical relations are given for determining value of inclination angle αi of discs and height Bi of their cutting layer.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency, improved shape accuracy, stable quality of worked surface along the whole width of each step, reduced consumption of abrasive material, elimination of shock loads.
