FIELD: abrasive working, possibly grinding and honing multi-step openings such as raceways of cutters and foots of drilling bits.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of simultaneously working all steps of blank while imparting rotation and cross feed motion to tool; using tool having several wheels coaxially mounted on spindle and having diameter steps corresponding to those of worked steps of blank. Wheel with minimum diameter has solid working surface and other wheels have intermittent surface formed by separate abrasive-diamond segments on base of flexible binder and secured to elastic tore like envelopes. Intermittent wheels are mounted by inclination angle αi relative to plane normal to rotation axis for forming axially shifted cutting layer. Mathematical relations are given for determining value of angle αi and parameters used for determining said angle. Tool is driven by supplying compressed air into elastic envelopes of wheels for realizing two modes of finish working, preliminary and final.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of grinding-honing, improved accuracy of geometry size, stable quality of surface along the whole width of each step, lowered consumption of abrasive.
