FIELD: radio detection and finding.
SUBSTANCE: the method consists in formation of the matrix of reflected signal amplitudes A(IJ) in the I-th elements of range resolution and the J-th elements of azimuth resolution differing by the fact that a successive shift of the radar beam in elevation is accomplished by electronic switching by a part of the width of diagram antenna direction at a fixed azimuth position, and in addition with reflection signal amplitude A(IJ) the azimuth of the respective surface element is measured, its spherical co-ordinates are converted to the rectangular co-ordinates, and thus the matrix of heights H(i,j) is formed jointly with the matrix of amplitudes A(i,j) in the i, j-th elements of digitization of the rectangular grid.
EFFECT: determined the height of objects on the surface in each resolution element and a three-dimensional image of the surface with objects is obtained in the form of a combination of the height and azimuth matrices in the elements of digitization of the rectangular co-ordinate grid.
