FIELD: instrument making.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to onboard systems made up of coupled of 1mm-band active and passive radiolocation stations. Proposed method comprises using onboard radio-IR-radar (RIRR) to form 2-D image of observed object to be identified. It differs from know methods in that, during travel of RIRR, range to target is measured. IR-image of object on a certain boundary of the range in recounted into coordinate system of radar operating mode, the radar being switched into operation instead of RIRR to form 3-D image for more precise identification.

EFFECT: higher resolution, improved recognition characteristics.
