FIELD: inorganic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: method involves calcination of the parent tellurium dioxide under vacuum at temperature 550°C, not less, in a crucible made of material with inert properties with respect to tellurium dioxide. Calcined tellurium dioxide is melted and prepared melt is subjected for vacuum distillation at temperature 780°C, not above. Purified product is precipitated on backing with temperature 450-650°C. Invention provides enhancing purity of tellurium dioxide relatively to metal impurities and residual moisture. Obtained tellurium dioxide of high purity degree is used in manufacturing telluride glasses for fiber optics and growing para-telluride monocrystals.
EFFECT: improved purifying method.
