FIELD: mechanical engineering; transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to brake systems of vehicles. According to proposed method, adjustment of free travel of brake master cylinder with pneumatic booster comes to changing length of rod by plastic deformation of at least part of said rod by subjecting it to compression in axial direction. Device to adjust free travel of brake master cylinder is provided with stops with cylindrical holes for ends of rod to be fitted in holes, and press for loading stops with axial compression force. At least one section of rod of pneumatic booster has form and/or made of material with features contributing to plastic deformation of rod at its compression in axial direction. Brake master cylinder contains rod whose axial length is adjusted by methods of free travel adjustment or by means of free travel adjusting device.
EFFECT: simplified adjustment of free travel of brake master cylinder with pneumatic booster in brake system.
