FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed chamber muffler contains cylindrical housing rigidly connected with end face intake and exhaust branch pipes and two disks with holes installed in housing square to direction of aerodynamic flow and forming chambers. Holes of disks are alternately displaced relative to axis of housing so that adjacent disks do not coincide. Housing is lined from inside with sound absorbing material, and disks are also lined with sound absorbing material from side of aerodynamic flow. Ratio of length of housing to its diameter D is within range of optimum values and ratio of diameter D of housing to diameter of exhaust branch pipe is within range of optimum values and ratio of diameter D of housing to diameter d of disk lies with in range of optimum values D/d=5.0-6.0. Ratio of diameter D of housing to length of chamber lies with in range of values Housing is made of structural materials with application of soft vibration damping material to its surface from one or two sides. Sound absorbing material is made of mineral wool on type Rockwool basalt base. Sound absorbing member is lined with acoustically transparent material over entire surface.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of noise damping owing to adjusting of chamber muffler by turning its sound absorbing member.
