METHOD FOR TREATING MULTI-COMMINUTED FRACTURES OF ELBOW BONE Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61B17/56

FIELD: medicine, traumatology, orthopedics.

SUBSTANCE: as a fixing element one should apply a reconstructive plate; it is necessary to form the plate according to pre-surgical roentgenogram of elbow bone in direct projection. The plate's contour should be formed so that it to repeat the contour of external surface of proximal part of elbow bone in sagittal plane and round the top of elbow process by entering its median surface. In plate's bent end it is necessary to remove the edge wall and sharpen lateral walls bayonet-shapely. Through the top of elbow process one should apply the needles into diaphysis of elbow bone intra-surgically along the axis of elbow bone by stringing on the repositioned fragments. Then one should apply plate's bent end between the needles, the top of elbow process and triceps muscle of arm, apply the bayonet-shaped part onto internal surface of elbow process, and its direct part - along external surface of elbow bone, apply a spongiose screw into diaphysis of elbow bone through the plate's foramen that corresponds to the top of elbow process, fulfill dosed compression of fragments by length and width and remove the needles. The innovation suggested provides stable fixation of fragments, reconstruction of articular function and decreased traumatism.
