SELF-FIRED ANODE MAKING METHOD Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC C25C3/12 

Abstract RU 2307879 C2

FIELD: metallurgy of aluminum, possibly in plants for production of aluminum in cells provided with self-fired anodes and upper current supply lead.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of charging main mass of anode onto surface of primary anode; replacing anode pins; charging under-pin mass and mounting metallic non-ferromagnetic plug whose diameter is equal to that of anode pin into empty holes; according to invention charging main anode mass of uniform composition containing 28 -32% of binder and charging under-pin mass containing 33 - 41% of binder; using hollow cylinder with cone lower portion, wall thickness 1 - 2 mm and total length equal to or exceeding height of column of liquid phase of anode as metallic non-ferromagnetic plug. Invention provides lowered from 534 till 520 kg/t consumption of anode mass, reduced consumption of fluorides, decreased volume of outbursts of resin and fluoride containing compounds to environment.

EFFECT: lowered content of cake, reduced consumption of anode mass, decreased labor consumption for operation of mounting-extracting metallic plug.
