FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method, coating is formed on surfaces of parts without disassembling of engine by addition of preset amount of powdered mineral material into oil system of engine. Dispersity of said material is up to 20 mcm at hardness of particles up to 2100 HV and lower than 1 mcm at hardness of particles exceeding 2100 HV. Adhesion number of material is not less than 750. Then engine is subjected to running in at speed of crankshaft set depending on hardness of material particles at hardness of particles up to 700 HV, at 0.4 - 0.06 of rated speed, at hardness of particles higher than 700 HV to 2100 HV at speed from idling to 0.4 of rated speed, and at hardness of particles higher than 2100 HV, at speed not higher than 0.4 of rated speed. Running-in time is from 10 min for small automobile engines up 30 min for large engines and 1.5 h for big power plants. Indication of presence of mineral layer on friction surfaces of parts after running-in increase of compression in each cylinder by 5 N/sq.cm minimum.
EFFECT: reduced mechanical losses in cylinder piston groups of engines.
