FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of forming surface layers of parts with preset friction properties. Proposed method of provide minimum mechanical losses in piston machines - internal combustion engines comes to machining of surfaces of parts forming main friction pairs in engines according to following common technological process: surface of part is machined using contact ultrasonic plant, power not less than 1 kW, and finishing turning of base material at pressure of tip of tool to machined surface of 20-80N and amplitude of vibrations of 20-40 mcm. Layer of coating of natural mineral materials with adhesion number in initial state not less than 700 and thickness not less than 0.020 mcm is formed on treated surface of part. Coating of natural mineral materials is subjected to machining by ultrasonic plant to get properties of mineral material surface characterized by adhesion number not less than 1000 at pressure of tool tip to surface equal to 0-50 N. Parts forming friction pairs are coated with same mineral materials, and when forming mineral coating on surface of parts, no external heat is fed to part surfaces.
EFFECT: reduced mechanical losses in engine friction parts.
