FIELD: accelerating equipment, in particular, equipment for producing high intensity impulse deceleration radiation.

SUBSTANCE: target for an impulse electron accelerator contains protective screen which is transparent for accelerated beam of electrons, converter, substrate, and meets the full absorption condition for electrons. The target is installed outside the output window of accelerating pipe, and protective screen is made heterogeneous, in form of two plates divided by a gap, determined by thickness of circular shock absorber, positioned along perimeter between them. The first plate is mounted with ensured vacuum-tight overlapping of output window of accelerating pipe, and the second plate is made of resilient thermo-resistant material and divided by adjustable gap with a converter. The converter is divided by controllable gap with a substrate. Cavities of all gaps are connected, and plates, converter and substrate are current-conductive, electrically interconnected and grounded.

EFFECT: increased reliability of operation, increased productivity of accelerator and increased reproducibility of characteristics of high intensity deceleration radiation field.
