FIELD: rescue equipment, particularly to evacuate people from multistory building.

SUBSTANCE: device comprises cable connecting building top and land-based catching means, rappelling means and winch. The catching means is made as a row of vertical soft curtains connected with each other so that gaps are left in-between. The curtains are made as rectangles of soft material and are connected to hanging means formed as rigid bushes freely sliding along cable. Cross-bars for curtain connection are fixed to rigid bushes and are transversal to the cable. The bushes are connected with each other by means of flexible ties. Extreme upper bush is fastened to cord to lift and tighten hanging means row and curtains connected thereto along cable. Catching means is mounted in closed truck having side wall areas and roof panel halves pivotally connected with each other so that said truck components may be unfolded flat to create working platforms for fire brigade movement to facilitate evacuated people receiving. Rear truck wall may be of drop type. Device also has telescopic shaft with inclination change mechanism. The telescopic shaft has pulley for cord, which tightens curtain row.

EFFECT: provision of soft landing.
