FIELD: mechanical engineering; aeronautical engineering; conducting ground tests of objects subjected to icing under natural operating conditions.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device includes wind tunnel, compressed air source and injectors for delivery of water for forming the water-and-air flow fed to the object under test. Besides that, wind tunnel is additionally provided with separating ring for separation of boundary layer formed on wind tunnel walls; separation ring is mounted before object under test; inlet end of this ring is provided with leading edge; provision is also made for piping system mounted on the outside of wind tunnel near leading edge of separation ring; this piping system is used for delivery of ejecting air to separated boundary layer for suction and discharge of it into atmosphere. Leading edge of separation ring may be hollow; cavity is connected with line supplying the hot air. Leading edge of separation ring may be provided with electrical heating spiral.
EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of test results due to approximation of tests to real icing conditions.
