FIELD: electricity; physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of nickel-hydrogen battery operation in artificial earth satellite stand-by power supply system includes charge-discharge cycles, control of charge level by pressure and hydrogen density, control of battery voltage and temperature, disconnection when minimum controllable charge level is achieved, communication of preset value to additional capacity with limitation by maximum battery temperature, correction of additional capacity value communicated from low controllable charge level during battery operation based on battery temperature achieved at the end of charging. Value of low controllable charge level of batteries is periodically corrected upward to 0.5 of the communicated additional capacity with equivalent reduction of the latter, low charge level being corrected if voltage is decreased at either of batteries during battery discharge until low controllable value.

EFFECT: improvement of functional reliability of nickel-hydrogen battery operation method.
