FIELD: machine engineering, chain transmissions.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cutting teeth on blank by means of standard cutting tool in the form of worm milling cutter. In order to enlarge manufacturing possibilities of standard cutting tool, sprockets are made by two stages with of radial and tangential shifts. At first stage cutting tool cuts-in by depth equal to height of tooth of standard sprockets determined according to known relations. Value of radial shift factor x is selected according to given formula. At second stage blank is turned by angle whose value is determined according to given formula. Cutting process is repeated while metal is removed only at one side of teeth in order to provide desired width of recesses.
EFFECT: enlarged manufacturing possibilities of standard cutting tool.
