SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with the technology for storing velvet antlers for food industry and pharmaceutics. It is necessary to detect morphological development of velvet antlers by fatness, the degree of mineralization and the content of biologically active substances. The procedure of velvet antlers cutting off in castrated third-year male deer should be fulfilled at the length of the main trunk ranged 55-65 cm, and in castrated males - 70-75 cm and more. While detecting maximally acceptable length of velvet antlers to be cut off one should take into account a species sign dealing with bifurcation of ice tine, and at the onset of this sign one should cut off a velvet antler. The innovation enables to widen raw materials base and application of biological resources of reindeer breeding.
