FIELD: radio detection and ranging, in particular, radar systems for observation of objects on the basis of an on-board or ground radar operating in the real beam condition with one multichannel aerial, where multichanneling is attained either by the availability of a great number of spatially spread reception elements of the phases array type, or duct to the frequency (phase) scanning of the radiated signal.
SUBSTANCE: the method for measurement of the altitude of ground and air objects on the basis of a multichannel radar consists in measurement oft eh angular altitude of the position of objects and its recalculation to altitude at a successive shift of the radar beam in the angular altitude by the value of the (2n+1)-th part of the width of the aerial directivity pattern (DH)with a dimension of (2n+1) of the discretization elements and processing of the amplitudes of the reflected signals at the output of the multichannel system of reception element obtained in each position of the beam, as a result of which the accuracy of estimation of the amplitudes in the discretization elements of the angular altitude is enhanced, and the angular resolution is enhanced respectively.
EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of measurement of the altitude of ground and air objects at a preset angular altitude in the range of location of the objects.
