FIELD: processes for strengthening or restoring surfaces of shaft journals.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of mechanically working surface of shaft journal and applying onto it bonding matter; forming bimetallic envelope in the form of sleeve whose outer surface is made of steel and inner surface is made of antifriction or wear-resistant material; heating bimetallic envelope till temperature no less than that of interaction of said bonding matter with joined surfaces and placing it by tight fit onto shaft journal surface; after cooling of prepared assembled unit removing steel outer surface of bimetallic envelope.
EFFECT: lowered labor consumption, enlarged assortment of bonding matters used according to invention.
