FIELD: processes and equipment for applying layer of material such as metal onto substrate, substrate produced by such method and apparatus for using in different branches of machine engineering in order to make coated articles.
SUBSTANCE: in space with low residual pressure some quantity of electrically conducting material is evaporated while power is supplied to material to be evaporated. During evaporation process evaporated material is present in said space in suspended state without support and it is enclosed by alternating electromagnetic field generated with use of HF alternating electric current. Apparatus for performing the method includes chamber, means for receiving evaporated material; means for insulation of coil from space where material is evaporated. Means for receiving material subjected to evaporation include coil for generating alternating electromagnetic field. Insulation means include ceramic tube. Apparatus also includes means for feeding evaporated material. Substrate is in the form of strip with electrically conducting material of titanium, magnesium, tin, zinc, chrome, nickel or aluminum or mixture of said metals (two or more), possibly with other metals.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of coating process, improved quality of applied coating.
