FIELD: processes for electrochemical oxidation of bromide to brome, namely oxidation of bromide ions in brines, salt solutions and in technological sewage.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of passing bromide solution at concentration values in range 0.05 - 1.0 mass% through anode compartment of two-chamber electrolyzer with membrane; passing solution of hydrochloric acid through cathode compartment at flow speed in range 2 - 15 ml/min by gravity; controlling electric current in electrolyzer in range 1.0 - 12.5 mA/cm2 at voltage values 2 - 15 V and at temperature of environment 20 - 40°C for producing aqueous brome from bromide solution subjected to anode treatment.
EFFECT: lowered energy consumption of process.
