FIELD: materials science.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to area of examination of physical and chemical properties of materials and consists in the following. Sample of material containing dissolved gas, whose solubility and concentration in the sample is to be determined, is placed into chamber, which is evacuated and equilibrium concentration of gas in the chamber is measured. After that, chamber is opened and adsorbent, whose absorption capacity is governed by Henry law and initially free of this gas, is added to chamber. Chamber is re-evacuated and equilibrium concentration of gas is once more measured. Further, sought solubility coefficients and initial concentration of gas in the material are found from formulae: where σ is coefficient of solubility of gas in material, mole/(m3 Pa); uo initial concentration of gas in material, mole/m3; εm= W/Vm; c1 and c2 equilibrium concentrations of gas in experiments 1 and 2, respectively, mole/m3; W free chamber volume; Vm material sample volume; Vs substance volume; K coefficient taking into account sorption properties of adsorbent, mole/(Pa m3); R universal gas constant, Pa m3/(mole K); and T temperature, K.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of measuring sorption characteristics for materials with high solubility coefficient value regarding a particular gas.
