FIELD: electrical engineering; catalysts built around other-than-platinum transition metals and their use in fuel cells.
SUBSTANCE: proposed new metal-based catalytic materials are primarily used both for manufacturing cathodes tolerant to alcohol for oxygen reduction and anodes for oxidizing various molecules as well as polymers for their production. Electrochemical cell using catalysts built around these materials are capable of generating electrical energy at ambient temperature and at voltage up to 160 mV/cm2 when filled with methanol and up to 300 MV/cm when filled with hydrogen.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of catalysts.
