FIELD: machine engineering, possibly abrasive working of materials with use of cutting fluid, particularly cylindrical grinding, internal, centerless grinding.
SUBSTANCE: oscillations of grinding wheel in the form of disc are damped due to forming wedge shaped cavities and pumping into them liquid damping fluid such as cutting fluid. Said wedge shaped cavities are formed between cylindrical surface of ring mounted coaxially with grinding wheel and secured to its end and having diameter of cylinder surface less than that of outer surface of grinding wheel and at least three shoes arranged uniformly along periphery of cylindrical surface of ring. Shoes are mounted in such a way that to form wedge cavities narrowing in direction of grinding wheel rotation and to create inside them hydrodynamic wedges at pumping cutting fluid.
EFFECT: improved efficiency and reliability of damping oscillations of worn grinding wheels, simplified realization of damping process.
