FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves dividing nucleus into fragments using irrigation chopper and ultrasonic needle after having made anterior capsulorhexis, hydro-section and hydro-delineation. To do it, ultrasonic needle is introduced into the nucleus as deep as 2/3 of its thickness beginning from the upper capsulorhexis edge at an angle of 45° to equatorial plane. Then, irrigation chopper is placed under phaconeedle end. The nucleus is divided into fragments by applying vertical meeting forces of two instruments moving the chopper.
EFFECT: microinvasive cataract phacoemulsification; improved operation field visualization; reduced risk of postoperative complications.
