FIELD: fire-fighting.
SUBSTANCE: method is used in the case of the first inert gas source failure to prevent or suppress fire with inert gas and to provide controlled oxygen content lower than working oxygen content in space to be protected for predetermined time. In the first embodiment said controlled oxygen content is maintained with the use of secondary, namely standby, inert gas source. In the second embodiment controlled oxygen content and working oxygen content within accident-free operation range is lower than threshold design level set for space to be protected so that in the case of the first inert gas source failure oxygen content increase curve reaches predetermined threshold oxygen content value set for space to be protected only after a predetermined time period enough for effective prevention of combustibles ignition or re-ignition in space to be protected.
EFFECT: extended emergency state duration, increased efficiency of ignition or re-ignition prevention in space to be protected.
