FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves excising rectum injured with tumor. Colorectal anastomosis is created. Distal rectum part length is measured from external anal canal orifice to anastomosis level L1. Maximum pressure zone is determined before carrying out surgical intervention in the anal canal in rest state. Rectum part length is measured from external anal canal orifice to maximum pressure zone L2. L1-L2 different is calculated. The value being greater than 2 cm, end-to-end or side-to-end anastomosis is created. The value being less than 2 cm, side-to-end anastomosis is created. Measuring device being graduated metal rod which diameter is equal to circular stepler diameter, is used in particular cases in measuring L1 value. The circular stepler is used for creating anastomosis in given operation.
EFFECT: high accuracy in determining anastomosis type.
