FIELD: commutating power equipment, possible use for protecting electric equipment from short circuit currents.
SUBSTANCE: ultra-conductive short circuit current limiter contains following parts connected in parallel: high temperature superconductor with resistance R in normal state and circuit with capacitor with capacity C, serially to which a switch is connected, which disables the current after high temperature superconductor transitions to normal state. In the circuit which is parallel to superconductor, serially with the capacitor, linear resistance Z is connected, and in parallel to section of circuit, which contains switch and capacitor, a circuit is connected with serially connected inductiveness L and controllable commutator, which is enabled immediately after switch contacts are opened. To disable currents in switch and commutator, following ratios must be fulfilled: R>Z; where Lc - inductivity of undamaged section of circuit.
EFFECT: reduced volume of superconductor, ensured capability of limiter to endure several short circuits following one another with short time intervals, ensured independency of high temperature superconductor resistance from parameters of external circuit and reduced costs of the limiter.
