FIELD: molding ceramic articles.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises arranging the preliminary molded blanks on the conveyor belt at a distance one from the other, moving the belt with the blank to the molding unit provided with at least one top mold connected with the molding plate, measuring the position of preliminary molded blank with respect to the position of die, comparing the measured values with reference values, positioning the die strictly above the blank so that its orientation is the same as the orientation of the blank on the conveyor belt, and molding the preliminary molded blank to produce the plate. The device comprises conveyor belt for moving the blanks to the molding unit provided with top die connected with movable die plate. The unit is provided with means for measuring position of preliminary molded blank with respect to the die, means for comparing data obtained with reference values, and means for positioning the die strictly above the blank.
