FIELD: physics, instrumentation technology.
SUBSTANCE: inventions can be used in polymerization plant for metering catalyst flow through pipeline running toward polymerization reactor. The device comprises optical emission source installed outside the pipeline and turned normally thereto, and emission intensity detector installed on the same side of the pipeline. Catalyst dose running through the pipeline crosses optical beam path causing significant decrease of emission intensity measured by the detector. Repetitive measurements of emission intensity and catalyst velocity are then multiplied and used to plot resulting diagram; integration of the diagram gives estimated mass of catalyst dose. The inventions improve accuracy of real-time measurements. The device and the system are easy to manufacture and operate.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of mass flow metering along with design simplification.
