FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing a hydroformylation catalyst comprises: (A) formation of a hydroformylation catalyst by contacting in the reaction conditions in the presence of a solvent of the catalytic metal precursor of at least one organopolyphosphite ligand, CO, hydrogen, bulk organomonophosphite ligand and, optionally, olefin, and the molar ratio of organopolyphosphite: catalytic metal is at least 1 but less than 2; the partial pressure of carbon monoxide is at least 25 psi; and the mole ratio of the bulk organomonophosphite: catalytic metal is from 5:1 to 50:1; and then (B) providing the concentration of organopolyphosphite ligand decreases so that the ratio of organopolyphosphite ligand: catalytic metal falls to less than 1, wherein metal is a metal of the ninth group.
EFFECT: reducing the risk of rhodium loss and reducing the risk of accelerated decomposition of ligand.
