METHOD OF PRE-IMPLANTATION RECONSTRUCTION OF HIP SOCKET FOR COMPLETE HIP REPLACEMENT Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A61B17/56

SUBSTANCE: in accordance with measurements and calculations of pre-surgery stage done from x-rays, CT and MR images, the walls and bottom of the hip socket are treated by a set of gouges and cutters for the prosthesis cup. After dislocation of the whirlbone from the hip socket and osteotomy of the femoral neck, the size of the hip socket is assessed intra-surgically. A set of bone gouges and cylinder-shaped cutters is used for partial resection of the articular surface of the back wall of the joint which increases its depth and moves the rotation centre in the same direction. After that, the implant bed is shaped by a mushroom-shaped cutter placed at 90° to the horizontal plane in which the prosthesis is implanted. The rotation centre location in the shaped bed is then adjusted. Next, the prosthesis peduncle is fixed in the femoral canal and the prosthesis components are repositioned.

EFFECT: method completely restores function of the hip joint and ensures secure fit of its components.
