FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in welding the railway, tramway and other tracks rail joints both in the shop and in the field. A high-frequency current heating of the rail joints is effected using by either a one-piece or a split inductor the form of which should ensure an equal gap between the said inductor and the rail outline to provide for an equal temperature across the rail section. The inductor in built in between clamps and ensures a 3 to 20 mm gap over the rail head and 5 to 35 mm over the rail walls and foot. The welding temperature equal to 0.7-0.95 of the rail metal melting temperature reached, the heating temperature is being equalised over the joint section using the additional heating inductor pulses.
EFFECT: higher quality welded joint, rag elimination.
