The suggested process of coating application includes the following stages: a) preparation of the surface the coating is to be applied to, b) setting of a polymeric resin material onto the cylinder surface in a precise predetermined pattern in droplets by way of a controllable method providing for the material x, y, and z sizing, c) curing the polymeric resin material set, at least partially. By way of alternative the process may include the following stages: a) preparation of the surface the coating is to be applied to, b) setting of a sacrificial material onto the cylinder surface in a precise predetermined pattern in droplets by way of a controllable method providing for the material x, y, and z sizing, c) setting of a polymeric resin material onto the surface the aforesaid sacrificial material has been applied to fill the areas left uncoated by the sacrificial material, d) curing the polymeric resin material set, at least partially, e) clearing the sacrificial material off the surface. The cylinder coatings have been applied in accordance with the above procedure.
EFFECT: enhancing the cylinder surface hydrophobe/hydrophile characteristics as per areas required.
