FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention deals with construction of pipelines and is to be used for protection of the insulated surface of a pipeline being laid in massifs of rocky or perpetually frozen soil as well as mineral soils containing inclusion particles that may damage the pipeline insulation such as land waste, pebbles and rocks. The flexible multi-layered blanket is made of porous non-woven fibre sheeting thoroughly impregnated with a self-curing composition. Along the whole of the rock shield surface oriented towards/away from the pipe there are support pads arranged made of polymeric material. There are also alternative variants suggested for the rock shield fabrication. Due to its flexibility the rock shield is to be used for the pipe swaging and subsequent anchoring onto it in the field environment; it is remarkable for enhanced resistance to impact, abrasion and pressure exercised by solid sharp-edged particles that may be present in the soil.
EFFECT: pipeline durability enhancement.
