SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of communication and may be used in cell communication systems. For that purpose, in a system with multiple carrier frequencies, each of them having an associatively related frequency band, the transmitting device of the base station in the system transmits normal signals, for example, user data, in its own dedicated frequency band. Besides that, the transmitting device of the sector base station periodically transmits beacon radio signals in its own frequency band and the frequency bands used by the transmitting devices of the adjacent sectors for their normal signal transmission. The mobile node tuned to one carrier frequency band receives multiple beacon radio signals, identifies sources of the received beacon radio signals, compares the intensity of the received radio signals, and makes decisions concerning the handover without the need of switching the carrier frequency band.
EFFECT: elimination of interrupted communication and pauses during handover process.
