FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of discharge equipment and can be used in creation of discharge devices, in particular dischargers intended for switching of high energy levels, protection of equipment and communication lines against overvoltage. Switching device comprises two main electrodes with current leads, separated by a discharge gap, an additional electrode with an igniting electrode, located with a gap in the hole of one of the main electrodes and connected to it by one side through an additional switching device, and the other to an additional electrode, one end of which is connected to its current lead, and the other end is located in the discharge gap of the main electrodes. Current lead of the additional electrode is made on the side of the current lead of the main electrode with a hole and is electrically connected to the current lead of the other main electrode. Main electrode with the hole is equipped with a metal plate with a hole through which the igniting electrode passes, at that the metal plate along the whole length is isolated from the side surface of the main electrode with the hole and has electric connection to its base on the side of the current lead.
EFFECT: high reliability of operation in low-current continuous mode.
