FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to the nuclear radiation detection and may be used in the fields of neutron radiography, nuclear physics, nuclear power industry, machine building industry, construction, and other industries. The neutron detector contains an enclosure filled with fluorescent gas medium, with a fissile material layer on its lateral surface, and a recorder. A cylindrical tube with a fissile material layer no more than one free path of own nuclear debris, installed so as to provide for changing the direction to the radiation source and the object under investigation, serves as the detector enclosure. Besides that, the neutron detector may be equipped with additional identical cylindrical tubes with a minimum length of 30 mm and a minimum diameter of 0.5 mm, installed in a matrix pattern so that multi-point recording of the object is made possible.
EFFECT: increased useful signal to background signal ratio and enhanced spatial resolution.
