METHOD OF MEDICAL REHABILITATION AT POSTTRAUMATIC CONTRACTURES OF KNEE AND ANKLE JOINTS Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A61H23/00

Abstract RU 2331404 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely traumatology and orthopaedy, is intended for conservative elimination of contracture of knee and ankle joints. The whole post-immobilisation period is divided into three courses of 10 days each. Each procedure includes consequent implementation of hand medical massage according to "sucking off" methodology in accordance with standard time of action counting on one massage unit, and vibration apparatus massage with vibration frequency up to 200 Hz and amplitude within from 0.1 to 0.3 mm using labial methodology with movement direction coinciding with direction of main mass of muscle fibres. Active-passive movements in ankle joint are included additionally. During the first course simultaneously with vibrating apparatus massage passive movements in ankle joint of patient who is lying on his stomach are performed. During the second course simultaneously with vibrating apparatus massage passive-active movements in ankle joint are performed. Patient, who is standing on his forefoot with main rest on healthy limb on support 5-6 cm high, independently lowers on his heels. During the third course simultaneously with vibrating apparatus massage active movements in ankle joint are performed. Patient, who is standing on forefeet on support 8-10 cm high, lowers on his heels, distributing loading on both limbs equally. Each course consists of 10 procedures with 5-10-day breaks between them. The method allows reducing terms of rehabilitation due to recovery of stretchability of rear muscles of ankle and recovery of knee joint extension and rear flexion in ankle simultaneously.

EFFECT: reduction of terms of rehabilitation at posttraumatic contractures of knee and ankle joints.
