FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to the technology of machine building and particularly to processing of spur gears by surface plastic deformation. The instrument has a hob, radial arms on the peripheral surface of the hob, with wire rings rigidly fixed on the arms, curved on the shape of the tooth. The wire rings are made such that, a helical toothed ring is formed for processing the work piece with tension. The arms are on the summits and depressions of the teeth of the helical toothed ring. The axes of the instrument and the work piece cross at an angle β=15°, which is equal to the angle of inclination of the teeth of the helical toothed ring. In that case, the parameters of the teeth of the helical toothed ring are taken from the mathematical expression given patent specification.
EFFECT: increased accuracy and quality of processing toothed gears.
